Lauener Prize for an Outstanding Oeuvre in Analytical Philosophy

The first recipient of the Lauener Prize for an Outstanding Oeuvre in Analytical Philosophy was Patrick Suppes, the Lucie Stern Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, at Stanford University (USA). The prize, given for Suppes' body of philosophical work, was awarded at the Haus der Universität Bern in Switzerland on 09 September 2004.

Professor Suppes is a classical exponent of the analytical philosophy of the 20th century.

He has done pioneering work in philosophy of science and other areas of philosophy. Moreover he has the rare gift of implementing his philosophical ideas in various fields of empirical science such as modern physics and psychology.
